My Philosophy
I would like to commend you on your wisdom and bravery that have led to you take the first step and begin seeking help. It is my honor to support you in this journey to discover relief, peace, and joy you may have never thought possible.

I prefer to think of my patients and myself as fellow travelers, a term that abolishes distinctions between ‘them’ (the afflicted) and ‘us’ (the healers). … We are all in this together, and there is no therapist and no person immune to the inherent tragedies of existence. My approach is entirely based on evidence-based
psychotherapy. These are treatments that are proven to be extremely effective in numerous scientific studies. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) are the "gold standard" for treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders. These treatments differ from traditional talk therapy, which has not been proven to be effective for anxiety, OCD, and BFRBs. This approach fits well with my personality as it is active, collaborative, and "hands on." I focus on providing my patients with tools and skills to change patterns in thinking and behavior with the aim that they will no longer need me as a guide and will learn to apply these principals on their own. As a specialist in evidence-based treatment with children and adults, my approach is most often short-term (8-24 sessions). We will use techniques to help you to resolve present day concerns by modifying unhealthy thinking and behavioral patterns and by empowering you with well-established strategies and tools so that you can serve as your own therapist for life. I founded the Virtual Center for Anxiety & OCD after I recognized the lack of experts trained to treat anxiety, OCD, and related struggles. I believe in the benefit of being able to reach people who may be limited geographically, physically, or those who have difficult schedules and commuting concerns. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized and collaborative approach tailored to each individual's needs to help overcome obstacles and attain the personal growth they’re striving for. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. |

"It is a true pleasure to work with other professionals that are as passionate about the field as I am. An important part of my role as a psychologist is to coordinate care and consult with other members of a patient's treatment team. An advantage to practicing alongside skilled providers who practice psychopharmacology and medication management is that I have ongoing access to their expertise so we can collaborate to give our patients the most comprehensive treatment." - Dr. Allison Solomon Dr. Solomon's private practice is now completely virtual, offering video conferencing to NY, AZ, and FL residents. She will continue to coordinate with prescribing physicians and other providers to offer the most comprehensive care possible to her patients.
